St. Johns is a great college prep school in Northeast Florida.
Since its founding in 1953, every graduate of the school has been admitted to a four-year college. An independent school that enrolls 625 students in grades Pre-K3 through 12, we take pride in our rigorous academic curriculum, our extensive arts and community service offerings, and our athletic program that encourages – and enables – students of all abilities to participate.
With median SAT Scores of 1800 and scores of 3 or higher on 91% of AP Exams, St. Johns students outperform their counterparts at every other school in Northeast Florida. At our school, we say “it’s cool to be smart.” While we are fortunate to admit many students who are blessed with a strong intellect, we are just as committed to nurturing a passion for life-long learning in students whose greatest assets are their desire to do something great with their lives and the grit to accomplish whatever it is they set out to do.
But that’s only the beginning. In addition to these essential programs, we place special emphasis on character education at St. Johns. After all, in thinking about the development of our students, we care most of all what kind of a person each of them is. With a very low student-to-teacher ratio of 9-to-1, we provide an intimate educational experience in which each student is assigned a faculty advisor, and where we are able to make and keep the single promise that matters most to our parents: Your child will be known and loved.
St. Johns has a rich history of traditions, including the daily gathering of the entire community around the quad for the raising of the flag, the pledge of allegiance, and announcements. Ours is a school where each first grader is paired with a senior buddy, and where the public announcement of college acceptance is a daily event.
Having completed two successful capital campaigns in the past decade, St. Johns has invested heavily in its beautiful campus facilities, which include brand-new middle and upper school buildings (equipped with state-of-the art technology) in which each teacher has his or her own classroom, the 80-seat Pace Lecture Hall, a College Guidance Suite, and the 600-seat Performing Arts Center, two gymnasiums, a competition swimming pool, an all-weather 400-meter track, and numerous playing fields for our athletic teams.
Affording an independent school education can be an expensive proposition for many families. St. Johns offers a quality educational experience at a cost that is substantially lower than other area independent schools. The school has a lean administrative team and endeavors to control costs so that tuition increases are kept to a minimum. Many of our parents have concluded that they cannot afford not to afford a St. Johns education.
