2009: Britt McTammany
Britt McTammany, a 1987 graduate of St. Johns Country Day School, was recognized as the school’s 2009 Outstanding Alumnus.
Britt has had a St. Johns connection since birth. His mother Mary Jo Cotney McTammany was a member of the school’s fifth graduating class, his dad Thomas attended St. Johns for a short time, and his grandfather The Rev. John McTammany was asked to bless the original campus buildings when they were completed in 1957. Britt has continued that connection with the enrollment of his son Iain, the school’s first third generation Spartan, and his daughter Olivia.
In addition to keeping a close relationship with the school as an alumnus and as a parent, Britt also serves on the Board of Trustees. While on the Board’s Development and Marketing committees, and understanding the need for a master plan for St. Johns’ future, Britt introduced the idea and recommended making a video to assist in the Reaching New Heights Capital Campaign. Having the talent and capabilities, access to state-of-the-art equipment, a genuine love of St. Johns, and the generous inclination to give something back, Britt produced a video that genuinely conveys the caring family atmosphere and unique learning experience that he enjoyed, and that continues today.
A native of Jacksonville, Britt’s career started while he was still at St. Johns. He worked nights at a local recording studio honing his listening skills and writing original music. Britt received a BS in business and marketing from Jacksonville University, and in 1994, along with two partners, formed Digital Video Arts (DVA) where his instinctive abilities with sound and graphics are one of the creative cornerstones of DVA’s success. As the Vice President and Director of Graphics and Sound Design, Britt oversees the creative aspects of graphics, sound, and interactive media to enhance the client’s image. Over the last 20 years Britt has worked with a number of high-profile national and international clients such as Ford, Winn-Dixie, MTV, First Union, The Florida Lottery, Lane Furniture, and Venus Swimwear.
