Good afternoon! Can you believe there are only four weeks left before the end of the school year? We are closing in fast on summer! Meanwhile, here are this week's updates from St. Johns Country Day School:
In the News
Over the past week, we have posted articles about thirteen Spartan awardees in the annual Concert on the Green Poster Contest, how Spartan votes stacked up against the rest of Florida in the annual Sunshine State Young Readers Awards, and about Friday's Cum Laude Society induction. Check out these stories and more "In the News."
Spartan Golf Tournament a Great Success
A great big "Thank You" to all the golfers, sponsors, and St. Johns community members who helped make Friday's Spartan Golf Tournament such a huge success. The weather was fantastic, and more than 100 golfers enjoyed a great day of golf, food, fun, and Spartan community, in support of our Spartan athletics. Thanks very much!
Grade 8 Hosting Veteran Q&A
On Wednesday, April 26, Mr. Stern's Grade 8 history classes will be hosting a Q&A with three of our nation's many veterans: LCDR Luis Rodriguez, CDR Coby Croft, and CWO Bucky Buchanan. These men served in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Vietnam, respectively. Students will have the opportunity to speak to each of our guests in small groups and ask them questions about their service, while comparing and contrasting the experiences of each veteran. Mr. Stern hopes it will be an inspiring, and honest, interaction for the students. St. Johns thanks these men and all of our country's veterans for their service to our school and our nation!
