In case you missed it, last week the Middle School Book Club had the opportunity to Skype with author Paul Durham. They have been offered a chance to read his latest manuscript and to provide feedback to the publisher in advance of the book's release next year. Way cool! Speaking of Spartans in the news, Varsity Girls Soccer Coach Mike Pickett is profiled in Sports Illustrated's "Faces in the Crowd" feature this week. The issue hit newsstands on Thursday, May 11, so pick up your copy while you can. Congratulations, Coach Pickett!
Pirates: The Musical
"Arrh" you ready for the Grades 3-5 Spring Musical, Pirates: The Musical? Join us tonight at 7:00 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center for a swashbuckling good time! Featuring students in Grades 3-5, you'll find out what it takes to be a pirate and whether stowaways really can make their dreams come true.
The MBS Book Buyback takes place next week in the PTL Spirit Store. If you bought books from MBS for this school year, you should have received an email about Book Buyback this week with instructions. Log in to your MBS account, create your buyback quote, and then just take your books and the quote to the Spirit Store during Book Buyback. You'll receive your payment by check or PayPal in about 4 weeks. It's that easy!

Mark your calendars for the end-of-year preschool musical program, which will take place on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at 9:00 a.m. in the Performing Arts Center. Featuring Jack and the Beanstalk and special songs for parents and familiy members, you won't want to miss this heartwarming program.
We've Got Talent!
The Lower School Talent Show, always an amazing display of student skills and achievements, is coming up at 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2017. Featuring 60 students in 40 acts, this year's show will be a showcase of singing, dancing, hoola-hooping, piano, saxophone, trumpet, magic, and much more!
Mark your calendars and plan to attend St. Johns' 62nd annual commencement, taking place on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at Thrasher-Horne Center for the Arts. The ceremony starts at 7:00 p.m. and is open to all. Come be a part of this memorable St. Johns tradition!
Project Based Learning: Art, Kids, and Conservation
All Grade 6 students are contributing to an exhibition featuring student art, writing, and research from their projects this year about White Oak. The show, called "Project Based Learning: Art, Kids, and Conservation," opens on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 and will be open through the end of August. Mark your calendars and do plan to stop by to see these amazing creative works.

Family Ambassadors Needed
We had tremendous response to last week's call for family ambassadors to call new St. Johns families over the summer break. Thank you! We have a few more slots available and do want to be sure to give these new Spartan families a very warm welcome. Concert on the Green Call for Volunteers
Concert on the Green (COTG), Clay County's largest cultural event, will take place on Sunday, May 28, 2017, on the grounds here at St. Johns Country Day School and will feature an amazing lineup of talent and music, plus activities for the kids, contests, food, drinks, fireworks, and so much more! COTG organizers are looking for adult and teen volunteers to help on the day of the event. Lower School Supply Packs
Lower School supply packs for the 2017-2018 school year are available now through Monday, June 19. Visit the vendor website and enter the St. Johns code-- SAI017. Then just select the pack for your student's grade, checkout, and you're all set! Supply packs will be delivered to the St. Johns Spirit Store and available for pickup on Orientation Day, Friday, August 11.
