In the News
St. Johns was pleased to announce yesterday that two Spartan seniors were named National Commended Students by the National Merit Scholarship Program. Hearty congratulations to Michael Beltz and Matthew Korahais! Read more about it "In the News."
This Week's College Visits
St. Johns has another great slate of visiting college admissions officers this week, including Boston College, Davidson, Bucknell, Stetson Univrsity, University of Florida, and many more. Next week's visits include:
Upper School students may sign up to attend any of these meetings. Interested students should stop by the College Counseling Office to sign up and get a permission slip, get that signed by the teachers of any class(es) they'll miss for the visit, and turn it in by this Friday to Mrs. Laird.
There are many more visits still to come this month, including, University of South Carolina, UC Berkeley, Rutgers, Vanderbilt, Emory, Hampden Sydney College, and two schools from Scotland-- the University of St. Andrews (Scotland's first university!) and the University of Glasgow.
Grade 5 to Driftwood
Grade 5 is off to Driftwood tomorrow for another year's adventure in seine-netting, beachcombing, night walks, nature exploration, and tons of fun. We wish them a great time, opportunitites for growth, and, of course, learning, on what is sure to be a fabulous trip. PTL Meeting Tomorrow

Middle School Family Social
The Middle School Family Social is this Thursday, October 5, 2017, from 3:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the Athletic Fields. It's going to be a fun-filled afternoon of games, food, and fun, and we can't wait to see you there! Click here to RSVP today!
No School Monday
Just a reminder that there will be no school for students on Monday, October 9, 2017, while faculty and staff have a planning day.
Conference Day Next Tuesday
All School Conference Day is on Tuesday, October 10, 2107. There will be no school for students, and faculty in Lower School, Middle School, and Upper School will be available throughout the day for parent-teacher conferences. Lower School parents, please contact Ms. Evans to schedule appointments. For Middle and Upper School conferences, click here to make your appointment(s). Open House October 14!
Invite your friends and neighbors to St. Johns' first Open House of the year on Saturday, October 14 from 10:00 a.m. to noon. No invitation is necessary, but please reach out to Director of Admissions Brian Pargman if you know families whom you would like to receive an invitation in the mail.
Interact Club Talent Show
The Interact Club talent show is on Saturday, October 14, in the PAC. Come watch your friends and teachers performing a variety of talents from singing to juggling. Admission to the show is $5.00 and all proceeds will go to packaging meals for our Rise Against Hunger meal packaging event on November 4. Our goal is to package 15,000 meals in 2 hours! The show is family friendly and Halloween themed so come dressed in your best costume for a chance to win the costume contest! Questions? Please reach out to Mrs. Velasco.
Does your student have an October birthday? Honor their special day with a birthday book for the Heinrich Learning Resource Center! For a minimum donation of $25, your student may choose a brand new book from the library, receive a dedication plaque in the book, and be the first to check out the book from the library. If your student has a birthday in October, check the Tuesday folders or your mailbox for more information, or reach out to Library Clerk Leslie Glenn. Thank you for helping our library grow with books students want to read!
