Grade 3 Collaboration with White Oak Conservation
Grade 3 Collaboration with White Oak Conservation

The Summer issue of "1953" magazine discussed how St. Johns is expanding its collaboration with White Oak into additional grade levels, helping more students learn about wildlife conservation and biology and gain critical skills at a younger age. Grade 3 students and faculty met with staff from White Oak this morning to get acquainted and learn more.

This morning, students used critical thinking skills and learned some new vocabulary words (herbivore, diurnal, localized defecation, prehensile) to discover which animal at White Oak they will be studying and helping this year. As well as discovering why these "architects of the savanna" are so awesome and are in trouble, our students will be tasked with designing an improved feeding system and tree protection covering.

Flip through the photos to discover their animal!
