Upper School Dress Code 2012-2013

The purpose of the dress code is to provide a standard to assure that students are properly dressed for the business of learning.  Students are to observe the dress code throughout the entire school day.  Violation of the dress code is a disciplinary offense.

GUIDELINES FOR BOTH BOYS AND GIRLS

  • All clothing must be neat, clean, appropriately sized and in good repair (no holes or frayed hems).
  • Clothing must not be tight, revealing, distracting, or offensive.
  • Belt loops require belts.
  • Hats and heavy coats may be worn outdoors in freezing weather only.  Hooded sweatshirts are not allowed.

BOYS 9 – 12 (MUST BE PURCHASED FROM SUNSHINE SCHOOL FASHIONS)

 

Monday Dress
  • long-sleeved oxford shirt  (white or light blue)
  • any tie
  • pants
  • sweatshirt, sweater vest or jacket (optional, depending on weather)
Designated Special Events
  • white long-sleeved oxford shirt 
  • school tie
  • navy pants
  • sweatshirt, sweater vest or jacket (optional, depending on weather)
Regular Dress
  • polo, rugby, or oxford shirt
  • pants or shorts
  • sweatshirt, sweater vest or jacket (optional, depending on weather)
Description of Sunshine Fashion Offerings
  • All shirts have a St. Johns logo and are worn tucked in.
  • The short-sleeved polo shirt is available in white, light blue, and navy.
  • The long-sleeved polo and rugby shirts are available only in navy.
  • The oxford shirt is long – sleeved and is available in white and light blue.
  • Pants and shorts are available in navy, stone, and khaki. 
  • The sweatshirt, sweater vest, and jacket have a St. Johns logo and are available in navy.

Boys are clean shaven.  Hair does not extend below the top of the shirt collar or below the earlobes and is neatly styled.  No earrings, body piercings, tattoos or unnatural hair color are allowed.

Shoes have closed toes and heels. Athletic shoes are not worn on Mondays or for Designated Special Events.

GIRLS 9- 12 (MUST BE PURCHASED FROM SUNSHINE SCHOOL FASHIONS)

Regular Dress
  • polo shirt, boat-neck top, or oxford blouse
  • skirt (2 styles), pants , shorts, or capris
  • sweatshirt, sweater, sweater vest, jacket (optional, depending on weather)

  • All shirts, blouses, and tops have a St. Johns logo.
  • The short-sleeved polo shirt is available in white, light blue, and navy.
  • The boat-neck top has ¾ length sleeves and is available in white, light blue, and navy.
  • The long-sleeved polo shirt is available in navy only.
  • The oxford blouse is short or long-sleeved and is available in white and light blue.
  • Pants, skirts, capris, and shorts are available in navy, stone, and khaki. 
  • The sweatshirt, sweater vest, and jacket have a St. Johns logo and are available in navy.
  • The sweater does not have a St. Johns logo and is available in navy.
     

Girls’ clothing is appropriately sized and does not cling to the body.  Skirts and shorts are worn no shorter than 3” above the knee. 

The boat-neck top and oxford blouses do not have to be worn tucked in.

No body piercings, tattoos or unnatural hair color are allowed. 

Shoes have closed heels or back-straps. High heels and stiletto style footwear are not permitted.  Athletic shoes are not worn on Mondays or for Designated Special Events.
