Twenty-two Upper School credits are required for graduation from St. Johns. Upper School students must take five subjects each semester, four of which must be academic courses (those requiring written homework, quizzes and tests).
Required Upper School credits:
|Science||3 credits (Biology and Chemistry required)|
|Mathematics||4 credits (Algebra 1, Algebra 2 and Geometry required)|
|History & Social Science||4 credits (World History, Modern World History, U.S. History, Government, and Ethics)|
|World Languages||3 credits of the same language or 2 credits each of 2 languages|
|Fine & Performing Arts||1 credit (Performing and/or Visual Art)|
|Junior/Senior Practicum||1 credit|
|Physical Education||1 credit|
|Elective Courses||1 - 2 credits - enough to equal 23 total credits
All students are encouraged to take more electives than required, and most graduate with far more than 23 credits.
