Good afternoon, and happy last week of school! Here are this week's news and announcements:

Got Books?

The MBS Book Buyback finishes up tomorrow in the PTL Spirit Store. If you bought books from MBS for this school year, you should have received an email about Book Buyback with instructions. Log in to your MBS account, create your buyback quote, and then just take your books and the quote to the Spirit Store during Book Buyback. You'll receive your payment by check or PayPal in about 4 weeks. It's that easy! The last day of Book Buyback is tomorrow, Wednesday, May 24, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

We've Got Talent!

The Lower School Talent Show, always an amazing display of student skills and achievements, is coming up tomorrow, May 24, 2017 at 8:45 a.m. Featuring 60 students in 40 acts, this year's show will be a showcase of singing, dancing, hoola-hooping, piano, saxophone, trumpet, magic, and much more!

Annual Commencement

Please plan to join us for St. Johns' 62nd annual commencement, taking place on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at Thrasher-Horne Center for the Arts. The ceremony starts at 7:00 p.m. and is open to all. Come be a part of this memorable St. Johns tradition!

Project Based Learning: Art, Kids, and Conservation

All Grade 6 students are contributing to an exhibition featuring student art, writing, and research from their projects this year about White Oak. The show, called "Project Based Learning: Art, Kids, and Conservation," opens on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 and will be open through the end of August. Mark your calendars and do plan to stop by to see these amazing creative works.

Concert on the Green This Weekend!

Concert on the Green (COTG), Clay County's largest cultural event, will take place on Sunday, May 28, 2017, on the grounds here at St. Johns Country Day School. Join us as St. Johns student art and music competition finalists receive their awards, and enjoy an amazing lineup of talent and music from the Jacksonville Symphony, plus activities for the kids, contests, food, drinks, fireworks, and so much more! Foundations of Art

Is your Spartan considering Upper School coursework in the visual arts? Foundations of Art is a required course intended to serve as the basis for all other visual arts studio courses. Your student can take Foundations of Art in St. Johns fantastic Summer Academic Program and knock out a full year's course over the summer! Students will be introduced to ideas in 2D and 3D design, including composition, space, color, form, theoretical perspective, art vocabulary, techniques, processes, materials, tools, and the methodology of visual creativity. Library Materials Now Due

Please be reminded that all library and text books are due back in the library. If you have any materials still out, please return them as soon as possible. Report cards will be held until all materials are turned in. Also, please note that summer reading lists are available for download on the library website.

Lower School Supply Packs

Lower School supply packs for the 2017-2018 school year are available now through Monday, June 19. Visit the vendor website and enter the St. Johns code-- SAI017. Then just select the pack for your student's grade, checkout, and you're all set! Supply packs will be delivered to the St. Johns Spirit Store and available for pickup on Orientation Day, Friday, August 11.
