Campus Update for Tuesday, December 12, 2017

Good afternoon! Here are this week's news and announcements from
St. Johns Country Day School:

In the News

As you heard in last week's Campus Update, St. Johns is pleased to welcome a new college counselor to our staff. Ms. Sarah Beresik joined the St. Johns community on Monday, December 4, 2017. You can learn more about her In the News.

Student of the Week

Congratulations to Sophomore Sheila Hodges who was named this week's First Coast News Student of the Week! The segment aired on First Coast News Monday morning at 6am, but you can view the video clip on FirstCoastNews.com. Congratulations, Sheila!

Concert Photos

We've been posting photos from last week's fabulous winter musical celebrations on social media, but we know not everyone is on those channels. We created two photo albums on sjcds.net for anyone who would like to view and share photos from the Winter Choral Celebration and Winter Band & Bells Concert. Enjoy!

Half Day Thursday

Please note that there is a half day of school this Thursday, December 14, 2017. Students will be dismissed at noon, and there is no school on Friday. Have a wonderful winter break! After school study hall will be closed on Thursday afternoon, remaining closed until school reconvenes on Wednesday, January 3, 2018.

Winter Warmth Service Project

Through Thursday, December 14, the Middle School is collecting new and gently used items to donate to Quigley House. Our theme is "Winter Warmth"—and we are hoping to collect items that can provide warmth and comfort to members of our community who are in need during these colder times of the year, including socks, gloves, hats, scarves, sweaters, jackets, and blankets. Please send in your donations to the Administration reception desk. We sincerely appreciate your help with this project!

Pro-Kids Show Returning in January

Back by popular demand, the tremendously entertaining Pro-Kids Show will return to St. Johns on Thursday, January 11, 2018, from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. This fun, family-friendly show is part comedy act, part magic show, and part character development. Filled with music, laughter, and audience participation, the Pro-Kids Show is suitable for kids of all ages, so bring the whole family to this fun-filled evening! All are welcome, and admittance is free. You can learn more about this show at SchoolShow.org.

Guidance Groups Full

The response to our Guidance Groups for Grades 4-7 was so tremendous, that the winter groups are now full. Mrs. Korahais and Ms. Landers plan on continuing these groups, so stay tuned for more information later in the spring!

Honor the Past. Invest in the Future.
The Annual Fund is the school's fundraising priority and to emphasize its importance, St. Johns has eliminated ancillary fundraising activities such as magazine, cookie dough, and wrapping paper sales. We ask all members of the St. Johns family to consider an investment in the children, the teachers, and the St. Johns experience with a gift to the Annual Fund. Every gift, large or small, is appreciated and has an immediate impact on St. Johns. Please make your tax-deductible gift or a pledge today – it is easy using the secure online giving link above. Pledges may be paid any time prior to June 1, 2018.

We hope you have a great week!
