Campus Update for January 9, 2018

Good afternoon, and welcome back! We hope your break was fabulous. Here are this week's news and announcements from St. Johns Country Day School:

Student-Led Conferences

Student-led conferences will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, January 10, 2018, for students in Kindergarten through Grade 11. If you have any questions or problems, please reach out to your division office: Mrs. Evans in the Lower School, Mrs. Kurnitsky in Middle School, and Ms. Goode in Upper School. We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!

Host Families Wanted

St. Johns is very pleased to announce that friends from our exchange school in Chambéry, France, will be visiting next month! Students from St. Ambroise High School in Chambéry are coming to St. Johns from February 7-15, 2018. We are seeking host families for them during this time. Students will be busy during the day, so host families need only provide room, meals, and transportation to and from school each day. St. Johns will take care of everything else. This is a fabulous opportunity for cultural exchange between your family and a member of our St. Johns extended family!

If you would like the opportunity to host one of the students during their visit, please download the host family information packet (PDF link) from the Parents Portal at and return the sign up sheet to Head of Upper School Mary Virginia Fisher as soon as possible. If you have any questions or need more information, please reach out to Mrs. Fisher.

Pro-Kids Show Thursday Night

Back by popular demand, the tremendously entertaining Pro-Kids Show will return to St. Johns this Thursday, January 11, 2018, from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. This fun, family-friendly show is part comedy act, part magic show, and part character development. Filled with music, laughter, and audience participation, the Pro-Kids Show is suitable for kids of all ages, so bring the whole family to this fun-filled evening! All are welcome, and admittance is free.

St. Johns Celebrates!

Our annual celebration of what makes St. Johns so special, St. Johns Celebrates!, will take place on Sunday, January 28, 2018, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. As a reminder, we are using St. Johns Celebrates! as one of our Hurricane Irma make up days, so attendance is mandatory for all students. There's a lot going on, and we look forward to seeing everyone on campus!

January Birthday Books

Does your student have a birthday in January? Honor them and their special donation to the Heinrich Learning Resource Center. If your student has a birthday this month, check the Tuesday folders or your mailbox for more information, or reach out to Library Clerk Leslie Glenn. Thank you for helping our library grow with books students want to read!
