Shah Wins Rotary Oratory Competition

St. Johns is proud to congratulate Senior Lea Shah, who won this year's Regional Oratory Competition sponsored by Rotary Club of Orange Park. Lea was selected to represent St. Johns Country Day School at the Orange Park Regional Oratory Competition, which took place on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, in Orange Park. Students from four other area high schools also competed, with each student presenting a five-minute speech on the following topic:

Technological advancement seems to touch every aspect of life. Rotary's key principles include fostering economic stability while building goodwill and better friendships in our own community and around the world.

Discuss whether technology has enhanced or detracted from the ability to advance these key principles for people in our own community and around the world. Provide research and examples to support your positions. Highlight how Rotary could help further such efforts at home and across the globe.

All speakers were judged on research, facts gathered, and overall presentation and were not allowed to promote any particular political, social, or personal agenda.

Lea moves on to the Final Competition, which will take place at the WJCT studios in February. Congratulations, Lea!
