Parent Back to School Nights
Just a reminder that Parent Back to School Nights take place tonight and tomorrow night. Lower School Back to School Night is tonight at 6:00 p.m. starting in the Pace Lecture Hall.
Middle and Upper School Parent Night will take place tomorrow, August 28, at 6:00 p.m. Middle School parents, please join us in the Performing Arts Center. Grade 8 parents will also meet separately to discuss the upcoming Grade 8 Mountain Trip.
Upper School parents, we'll see you in the Pace Lecture Hall, where we'll kick off with info on College Counseling.
Join Us for Coffee Talk!
Plan to join us Wednesday mornings starting tomorrow for Coffee Talk—a cup of coffee before you’re on your way to the rest of your busy day, and an opportunity to meet and chat with members of the St. Johns administration. Coffee Talks begin immediately following flag raising, or at 8:15 a.m. Here's the schedule:

Softball Workouts Starting Wednesday
After school workouts for Varsity and Middle School Softball players begin this week Wednesday and will continue Monday and Wednesday afternoons. Stop by the softball fields to meet Coach Toledo and talk about the season ahead! No experience needed. Coach will prepare you to compete and have fun.
Fall Portraits
Just a reminder that Fall Portraits will take place this week. Lower School portraits are this Thursday, August 29, and Middle and Upper School portraits are on Friday, August 30. Say "cheese!"
Middle School Lego Robotics Team
St. Johns is proud to announce the launch of a new Middle School Lego Robotics Team, which will be meeting Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. from August 29 until December 17, 2019. No experience is required and there is no cost for participating. Please reach out to Mrs. Wagstaff or Ms. Lapinski with any questions.
PTL and Spartan Boosters Meetings - September 4
There are many ways to get involved to enrich the experience for you, your family, and the School, including our parent volunteer organizations! Next week, come learn more about our Parent Teacher League and Spartan Boosters at their first meetings of the year. Both meetings will take place in the Heinrich Learning Resource Center Conference Room.
September 4, 8:15 a.m.- Parent Teacher League (PTL)
The PTL works to support the School community through a variety of activities and events including family socials, faculty appreciation lunches, Grandparents Day, and more.
September 4, 6 p.m.- Spartan Boosters
The Spartan Boosters celebrate and support our student-athletes and coaches by volunteering at concession stands, organizing end of season banquets, and more.
Chick-fil-A Orders Going Online in September
In response to parent request, St. Johns is pleased to announce the launch of online ordering for Monday Chick-fil-A lunches starting in September. Just visitsjcds.net/chikn, place your order for a week or the whole month, and pay with your credit card. No logins or passwords are needed, and no need to return forms to your child's homeroom teacher. Just click the button above to go directly to the online ordering page.
Get in the Pool with Spartan Aquatics!
Registration is now open for the fall season of Spartan Aquatics Club, or SPAC. Spartan Aquatics is open to anyone interested in competitive swimming and has a variety of age groups. More information is at sjcds.net/spac, oremail Coach JJ with any questions.
Club Rowing with Evans Rowing Club
In order to field a more competitive rowing team, St. Johns' Crew has entered a new partnership with Evans Rowing Club. Registration is now open for the fall season, which starts this week (with indoor ERG training). Rowing begins after Labor Day weekend at Evans' new location at The Rudder Club of Jacksonville (8533 Malaga Ave, Jacksonville, FL 32244). St. Johns' Middle or Upper School students will receive a 10% discount on their registration. Click here to register today!
College Admission Rep Visits
There is a large slate of college admissions representatives who will be on campus next week, meeting with interested Upper School students. In order to attend, students must get a permission slip from the College Counseling Office, have it signed by the teacher of any class that they'll miss, and turn in the slip to College Counseling no later than the Friday before the visit. Host a German Exchange Student!
As a part of St. Johns' longstanding partnership with the Hochrad Gymnasium (high school) in Hamburg, thirty students and their teachers and chaperones will visit Thursday, October 24 until Friday, November 1. If you are interested in hosting a student or one of the adults during this time, please reach out to Mrs. Scott or Mr. Warren.
