Good afternoon! Here are this week's news and announcements from St. Johns Country Day School:

St. Johns Robotics Lauded at First Contest

St. Johns' brand-new robotics team participated in its first competition last week and came away with an award and an alternate bid for the regional competition. Read more about the team and its success at sjcds.net/news!


Report Cards Now Available 

Report cards for all students are now available in My School App. To access your student's first semester report card, log in to My School App and then, from your Parent Resource Board, in the upper left click on your student's name. At the top under Performance you'll see links for all available report cards. Questions or problems accessing your student's report card? Please contact your division assistant. 


Welcome Grade 8! 

Starting this week we welcome our Grade 8 Spartans to Campus Update! The Class of 2024 has now begun receiving Campus Update as another step in their progress to Upper School and increased responsibility for themselves and their work. Welcome, Grade 8 Spartans!  If you have any questions, please reach out to your homeroom teacher, or simply reply to this message.


Student-Led Conference Day Tomorrow

Student-led conferences will take place in all three divisions tomorrow. The scheduling links are now closed, but if you have any questions or concerns about your appointment time, please reach out to your division assistant:

Lost & Found Claim-Back

While you're on campus for Conference Day tomorrow, plan to stop by the Pace Lecture Hall to review and reclaim any lost & found items from first semester. If your student lost a hoody, PE gear, a lunchbox, or just about anything else last semester, chances are it'll be there waiting for you. We'll have everything washed and displayed for easy ID-- all you have to do is stop by. We look forward to seeing you there!


St. Johns' After School Program

The next session of St. Johns' After School Program begins on Monday, January 27 and runs through Thursday, March 19. Featuring two exciting new courses for our youngest 3- and 4-year-old Spartans, along with lots of cool other options for students through Grade 5, your child won't want to miss it! Activities offered this session include:

  Big Kid Story Hour Stories & Drawing 
  Fit & Fun Mythology for Young Spartans
  Homework Help Chess
  Cardboard Creations Cheerleading
  Watercolor Painting Fantastic Friends
  Learn to Play Ukulele Manners with Sachs
  Yoga Conjunction, Junction, What's Your Function?

Registration is available on the Lower School Topics page in My School App, or on your child's homeroom teacher's page.


Merit Scholarship Applications Now Open

Applications for the St. Johns Merit Scholarship are being accepted now through February 28, 2020. Open to students who will be entering Grades 7 or 9 in the 2020-2021 School year, the Scholarship covers 50% of tuition for qualifying students. The Scholarship is open to both new and returning students. Learn more at sjcds.net, or please direct any questions to the Office of Admissions.


National Junior Honor Society Applications Now Available

Much more than an honor roll, the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is a distinctive multifaceted learning experience that provides a solid and meaningful foundation for life. This prestigious opportunity is available for St. Johns' current Grade 7 and Grade 8 students and applications are due no later than 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2020. Applications can be found on the Middle School Topics page of My School App. Please contact NJHS Sponsor Mrs. Katie Foster with any questions.


Monday Chick-fil-A Ordering

Just a reminder that the ordering link for Monday Chick-fil-A lunches is available at sjcds.net/chikin. The order form is updated monthly and includes a whole month on one page. You can order for the full month at a time, or just for one Monday-- as you wish! Please reach out to School Receptionist Sherry Burnside if you have any questions or problems with the order form. 


Character Foundations: January

This month in Character Foundations, Spartans of all ages are learning about knowledge, which is defined as learning something new so you can be better at whatever you do. Spartans putting this trait into action all month in classes, with advisors, and in buddy meetings.
