Grade 5 Enters NSCDA Essay Contest

Grade 5 traveled to the Jacksonville Public Library today to present the results of their work for an annual essay contest sponsored by The National Society of the Colonial Dames of America (NSCDA) in the State of Florida. Students were given Martha Washington as the subject matter, and spent time during first semester researching Martha Washington and then following the writing process steps to finalize a typed, one-page essay. Each participating school submitted their top three essays for judging by the sponsor committee.

Then this morning, Grade 5 students went to the Main Jacksonville Public Library, where they saw a Martha Washington re-enactor who spoke about the importance of Washington in our country's founding as well as the importance of the writing process.

St. Johns is proud to announce that Bailey Conner was selected as the St. Johns Country Day School essay winner.  Congratulations, Bailey!
