Schildberg Comes Out Ahead in Clay Electric Contest

Junior Julia Schildberg was one of four winners in this year's Clay Electric Youth Tour to Washington competition, which took place last week in Tallahassee. Julia will travel to Washington, DC during National Youth Week this June.

Twenty-two high school juniors from across Clay Electric’s service territory were selected as representatives by their respective high schools, including St. Johns Country Day School. These students traveled to Tallahassee February 11-13, where they observed the state legislature in session, learned about the Florida Supreme Court, and competed to be one of the four students selected to visit Washington DC in June. As part of the competition, the students took a written quiz about electric cooperatives and gave a speech which was scored by a non-partisan panel of judges. The four individuals with the highest scores in both areas were chosen as the winners. Winners included Schildberg along with Shaina Storch of Gainesville High School, Ellie Hingson of Columbia High School, and Nikki Russo of Oakleaf High School.

Congratulations, Julia!
