Performing Arts Senior Spotlight: Lizzie Stoeber

Today’s Performing Arts Senior Spotlight shines on Lizzie Stoeber!

Name: Lizzie Stoeber

What has being in band, dance, Singers, or theater meant to you?
Being involved in both Band and Theatre has meant jumping out of my comfort zone and getting to know people who I never would’ve been friends with otherwise. I’ve been able to develop performance skills that have helped me in my day to day life.

How long have you been in the arts?
I’ve participated in Band since the fourth grade and Theatre for just this past year.

What have you learned through your involvement/ how has this helped you prepare for college/life?
Through the performing arts, I have learned how to adapt quickly to new situations and new challenges. I feel like this will be helpful in my college career as it will help me mold quickly and easily to my surroundings and help me succeed in challenging situations.

What are some fond memories and experiences you have had in your arts discipline?
The Germany trip in the ninth grade is something I’ll never forget. I got to travel to a brand new country with some of my closest friends and I got to know a German exchange student who I’m still friends with to this day.

What college/university will you attend and what will your major be?
I will be attending the University of Florida and majoring in Criminology.

What are your favorite TV programs, movies, books?
My favorite TV show as of late is Mae Martin’s Feel Good on Netflix. My favorite movie is The Truman Show and my favorite book is Mindhunter by John E. Douglas.

What benefits have you received by attending St. Johns?
At St. Johns, I’ve received the freedom to study subjects that I am the most interested in while still getting a well rounded education in all areas of study. I’ve also been able to form personal relationships with my teachers that you really can’t find anywhere else.

Would you encourage underclassmen to become involved in your performing arts activity? Why?
Absolutely! Both Band and Theatre are amazing ways to get out pent up energy and meet new people in the process. I would recommend either one of them (or both) over and over again!

In what other activities have you been involved?
I’ve been involved in Varsity Cheer since the eighth grade and have twirled baton at football games during halftime since middle school.
