Campus Update for Tuesday, June 9, 2020

Dear Spartan Family,

It was wonderful to see so many of you (from a distance!) last week at our drop-off/pick-up days. I hope you all got (and left behind) everything that you needed-- do just give us a call if not. We'll be happy to help.

Campus is slowly and steadily coming to life with the re-introduction of Spartan Aquatics this week. Driver's Ed is coming soon with Summer Camp right on its heels, and work is well underway in preparation for the 2020-2021 School year, starting with Orientation Day on Friday, August 7, 2020. If you haven't had a chance to download them yet, summer reading and summer math assignments for students in all divisions are available on the Topics page of each Division's My School App page. Do just reach out to your Division Head if you have any questions.

And finally, I am so happy to be able to announce that we will host a relatively traditional St. Johns graduation ceremony for the Class of 2020 later this month. These 47 outstanding young men and women have had so many meaningful and memorable traditions ripped from them this year and the idea of not being able to give them their graduation was unbearable. I have been on the phone with Thrasher-Horne almost constantly since Florida closed down in March, and am so pleased that we are able to be among the first back on their schedule. While we are forced to limit attendance (see details below), I am thrilled that most other details will be very much in keeping with tradition. If we cannot see you at Thrasher-Horne that night, please do join us for the livestream. It's sure to be another memorable graduation!

Spartan best,

New Visitor Protocol

As we move into summer and Florida's Phase 2 of Reopening, the School's hours and visitors protocols have changed. The School's summer hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. through 3:30 p.m. All campus visitors are required to enter through the Administration building, check in at Reception with their driving license (or other government ID), and answer a short health questionnaire.

Interested in Cheer?

Are you a girl entering Grades 9-12 who wants to get out in front of the crowd, drive School spirit, and have a ton of fun in the process? Join us for a cheerleading interest Zoom call on Saturday, June 20, at 2:00 p.m. Here's the link, or just enter the Meeting ID and Password above into your Zoom app.

Graduation of the Class of 2020!

St. Johns is thrilled to announce the graduation of the Class of 2020, which will take place on Friday, June 26, 2020, at the Thrasher-Horne Center. Capacity at the Thrasher-Horne Center is reduced due to the coronavirus, so St. Johns will be required to implement social distancing in the seating chart. Thus, if you are not the family of a senior, or invited to sit with a senior's family in their seating block, please plan to join us for Graduation Live! — a livestream of the graduation ceremony which will be hosted at Class of 2020 — we look forward to saluting you and your many accomplishments!

Lower School Supply Packs Now Available

Skip the lines and order your Lower School student's back-to-school supplies online in advance. Each custom-tailored, teacher-approved pack will be delivered to your child's homeroom for Orientation Day. No crowds, and hauling and toting those supplies to School! And it's easy, just click here to go to our vendor's site. Enter School ID SAI017 (that's an I as in iguana, followed by a zero). Then just follow the on-screen instructions to complete your order. It's that easy! Contact School Receptionist Sherry Burnside at or (904) 264-9572 if you have any questions.

Driver's Education

In conjunction with Able Driving Center of Jacksonville, St. Johns will host a driver's education program Monday, June 29 through Thursday, July 2. The program includes 30 hours of classroom time with your professional Able Driving Center instructor, plus 6 hours of driving time, also with the instructor, scheduled individually at your convenience. Registration is limited to 10 participants, and all students must be 15 years old. All classrooms will be sanitized and students will be socially distanced within the space. Students are asked to bring their own lunches and water bottles daily.

Please note that the first day, Monday, June 29, is a short day (8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) and includes the state's mandatory drug and alcohol program, after which students may apply for a learner's permit if they have not already. Thus Monday's class is optional for students who already have their permits. Please visit for registration and more information.

Summer Camp

St. Johns is now accepting registrations for our exciting instructor-led specialty camps this summer for campers who will be entering Grades 1 through 9 in the fall, depending on individual Camp age requirements. Camps will take place from June 29 through July 24, 2020. Parents who have already registered for regular day camp have the option to switch into a specialty camp or to receive a full refund. Unfortunately, due to health and safety concerns we are unable to offer regular day camp or extended care this summer. Please visit for more information and to register.

New Magnus App Makes Updating Health Info Easy!

As summer gets underway, preparation begins for the 2020-2021 School year, and that means updating those student health forms, shot records, and sports physicals. This year, there's a new, easier way to get these things done with the new Magnus Mobile app. Magnus Mobile helps parents quickly and easily upload health forms and upload them directly into their Magnus account. Parents can complete all requirements, fill in student health data, and receive app notifications from the school regarding their student(s) all on their phone!
To get started, first:

  • Log into Magnus as you normally would through My School App, then hover over your name at the top left and select "Change Credentials"
  • Create a username & password

Now you're ready to get the app:

  • Download the Magnus Mobile app from the Apple Store or Google Play store, and log in using your newly created username & password.

That's it! You're all set.

The Magnus Help Desk stands ready to help you with any questions. Call or email at (877) 461-6831 or
