Campus Update for Tuesday, June 16, 2020

Dear Spartan Family,

Campus is starting to bustle again, with Spartan Aquatics in the pool and Administration offices now open our usual summer hours. Summer camps, sports camps, and driver's education classes are right around the corner. I've heard from many parents who are looking for simple ways their child can--safely-- get out of the house a bit this summer and socialize with some friends. If you find yourself in this situation, please consider one of our summer camps. They'll be socially distanced, with limited attendance, a tight "contact bubble," and rigorous daily cleaning protocols in place, so will be the perfect spot to re-introduce a little friend time to your youngster. Whether your child would enjoy weaving and painting in Art Camp, dribbling and shooting in Basketball Camp, or exploring forensics and biotechnology in CSI Camp, there is truly something for everyone, and camps are available for students through Grade 9. You can view the full schedule at sjcds.net/summer, or contact Summer Camp director Mr. Mike Hilliard with any questions.

Spartan best,

Graduation for the Class of 2020 will take place on Friday, June 26, 2020, at the Thrasher-Horne Center. Capacity at the Thrasher-Horne Center is reduced due to the coronavirus, so St. Johns will be required to implement social distancing in the seating chart. Driver's Education

In conjunction with Able Driving Center of Jacksonville, St. Johns will host a driver's education program Monday, June 29 through Thursday, July 2.

The program includes 30 hours of classroom time with your professional Able Driving Center instructor, plus 6 hours of driving time, also with the instructor, scheduled individually at your convenience. Registration is limited to 10 participants, and all students must be 15 years old. All classrooms will be sanitized and students will be socially distanced within the space. Students are asked to bring their own lunches and water bottles daily.

Please note that the first day, Monday, June 29, is a short day (8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) and includes the state's mandatory drug and alcohol program, after which students may apply for a learner's permit if they have not already. Thus Monday's class is optional for students who already have their permits. Please visit sjcds.net/summer for registration and more information.

Summer Camp

St. Johns is now accepting registrations for our exciting instructor-led specialty camps this summer for campers who will be entering Grades 1 through 9 in the fall, depending on individual Camp age requirements. Camps will take place from June 29 through July 24, 2020. Parents who have already registered for regular day camp have the option to switch into a specialty camp or to receive a full refund. Unfortunately, due to health and safety concerns we are unable to offer regular day camp or extended care this summer. Please visit sjcds.net/summer for more information and to register.

New Magnus App Makes Updating Health Info Easy!

As summer gets underway, preparation begins for the 2020-2021 School year, and that means updating those student health forms, shot records, and sports physicals. This year, there's a new, easier way to get these things done with the new Magnus Mobile app. Magnus Mobile helps parents quickly and easily upload health forms and upload them directly into their Magnus account. Parents can complete all requirements, fill in student health data, and receive app notifications from the school regarding their student(s) all on their phone!

To get started, first:

  • Log into Magnus as you normally would through My School App, then hover over your name at the top left and select "Change Credentials"
  • Create a username & password

Now you're ready to get the app:

  • Download the Magnus Mobile app from the Apple Store or Google Play store, and log in using your newly created username & password.

That's it! You're all set.

The Magnus Help Desk stands ready to help you with any questions. Call or email at (877) 461-6831 or service@magnushealth.com.
