Campus Update for Tuesday, June 23, 2020

Dear Spartan Family,

This week we are thrilled to celebrate St. Johns' third annual Day of Giving, #GreatDaySJ, which is, at its heart, a celebration of St. Johns and all that the School means to our community.

As we come together to celebrate on Thursday, we will ask for your support. Our Day of Giving goal is 108 gifts — one for every teacher, coach, and staff member at St. Johns. It's not the size of the gift that matters, but the fact that we all take a moment to express our appreciation for the School and its people. I hope you will join me on Thursday and make your tax-deductible donation.

If you would like to get a head start, you can go ahead and make your gift today at sjcds.net/greatday

Spartan best,

Day of Giving Coming Thursday

This Thursday, St. Johns will celebrate its 3rd annual Day of Giving, #GreatDaySJ. Our Day of Giving goal is 108 gifts - one for every teacher, coach, and staff member at St. Johns. Spending the final weeks of classes away from campus highlighted the fact that the St. Johns Experience isn’t about our buildings, it's about our people. Please join us in celebrating the faculty and staff that help make our School so great and make a gift on June 25 at sjcds.net/greatday!

Graduation of the Class of 2020!

Graduation for the Class of 2020 will take place this Friday, June 26, 2020, at the Thrasher-Horne Center. Capacity at the Thrasher-Horne Center is reduced due to the coronavirus, so St. Johns will be required to implement social distancing in the seating chart. Thus, if you are not the family of a senior, or invited to sit with a senior's family in their seating block, please plan to join us for Graduation Live! — a livestream of the graduation ceremony which will be available through sjcds.net/live. Class of 2020 — we look forward to saluting you and your many accomplishments!

Lower School Supply Packs Now Available

Skip the lines and order your Lower School student's back-to-school supplies online in advance. Each custom-tailored, teacher-approved pack will be delivered to your child's homeroom for Orientation Day. No crowds, and hauling and toting those supplies to School! And it's easy, just click here to go to our vendor's site. Enter School ID SAI017 (that's an I as in iguana, followed by a zero). Then just follow the on-screen instructions to complete your order. It's that easy! Contact School Receptionist Sherry Burnside at sburnside@sjcds.net or (904) 264-9572 if you have any questions.

Driver's Education

In conjunction with Able Driving Center of Jacksonville, St. Johns will host a driver's education program starting next Monday, June 29 through Thursday, July 2. The program includes 30 hours of classroom time with your professional Able Driving Center instructor, plus 6 hours of driving time, also with the instructor, scheduled individually at your convenience. Registration is limited to 10 participants, and all students must be 15 years old. All classrooms will be sanitized and students will be socially distanced within the space. Students are asked to bring their own lunches and water bottles daily.

Please note that the first day, next Monday, is a short day (8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) and includes the state's mandatory drug and alcohol program, after which students may apply for a learner's permit if they have not already. Thus Monday's class is optional for students who already have their permits. Please visit sjcds.net/summer for registration and more information.

Summer Camp

St. Johns is now accepting registrations for our exciting instructor-led specialty camps this summer for campers who will be entering Grades 1 through 9 in the fall, depending on individual Camp age requirements. Camps will take place from June 29 through July 24, 2020. Parents who have already registered for regular day camp have the option to switch into a specialty camp or to receive a full refund. Unfortunately, due to health and safety concerns we are unable to offer regular day camp or extended care this summer. Please visit sjcds.net/summer for more information and to register.
