Campus Update for Tuesday, November 17, 2020

Good afternoon! Here are this week's news and announcements from St. Johns Country Day School:

In Case You Missed It...

In case you missed it, last week we published stories about the twelve Spartan seniors who signed letters of intent to continue their athletic and academic careers in college, and about the winners of the grade-level spelling bees who will continue on to the School bee next month. You can check out these stories and more at sjcds.net/news!  (Photo by Julia Nichols '21)

Parent Association Virtual Meeting

Save the date for the last Parent Association meeting of the 2020 calendar year, happening Wednesday, Dec. 2 at 8:30 a.m. Enjoy a festive performance by the Singers, hear updates from the President of the Board of Trustees Rick Gregson and Division Heads, and more all from the comfort of your home or office. We hope to see you there!

Mask Reminders

Parents, please be reminded to ensure that your child comes to school each day with a clean mask to wear. It's a good idea also to stash a spare (or two!) in their backpacks, just in case. Particularly with our younger Spartans, the need for a fresh mask can arise throughout the day!

Senior Presentation Friday

The Senior Presentation of the Class of 2021 will take place this Friday, November 20, from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Due to coronavirus-related capacity limitations, live attendance is limited. However, we are thrilled to be able to livestream the event. First introduced in 1962 by St. Johns' founding Headmaster Dr. Edwin P. Heinrich, Senior Presentation combines a traditional Thanksgiving service with the recognition of the seniors’ coming of age. Please join us for this moving ceremony at sjcds.net/live.

Support the St. Johns Fund Today!

The St. Johns Fund supports our mission to develop students who can seek solutions, accept responsibility, and lead collaboration. Every gift, no matter the size, benefits our students, faculty, and the St. Johns Experience through curriculum and technology enhancements, faculty professional development, PPE and sanitization supplies, and much more that would not be possible without the support of the entire St. Johns community. Please consider making a gift to the St. Johns Fund this year. Make your gift by cash, check, or online at sjcds.net/give. If you have already made a gift to the St. Johns Fund, thank you for the difference you have made. If you haven’t made a gift, we hope we can count on you to commit to the St. Johns Fund this year.

November Character Foundations: Gratitude

This month in Character Foundations, St. Johns' innovative character education program, students in all grades are learning about gratitude, which is defined as letting others know you see how they've helped you. Visit sjcds.net/news to learn more about gratitude, find out some of the things our Spartans will be learning about and doing this month, and get resources you can use to reinforce the lessons at home.
