Weekly Campus Update

Good afternoon! Here are this week's news and announcements from St. Johns Country Day School:

Spring Concerts This Week

Don't miss the Spring Band & Bells concert tonight and Spring Choral Concert Thursday night, both at 7:00 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. Students from the Grade 5, Concert, and Symphonic Bands, and handbell and choral groups will treat us all to a sampling of what they've been working on this semester. We missed these concerts last year due to COVID-19 and are thrilled to have them back. We look forward to seeing you there!

Grade 8 Enacts Mockingbird Trial Scene

Yesterday, Grade 8 continued the longstanding tradition of re-enacting the trial scene from Harper Lee's classic novel, To Kill a Mockingbird. You can read more about it and view photos In the News. Congratulations on a triumphant production, Class of 2025!

Celebrate Resilience & Fortitude with #GreatDaySJ!

This Thursday, May 13, St. Johns will celebrate its 4th annual Day of Giving, #GreatDaySJ. Our Day of Giving goal is 168 gifts - one for every day that our doors have remained open during this most unusual school year. In order to include the students in our celebration and to help cultivate charitable students, we are giving students the opportunity to participate in our Day of Giving. For a $5 donation, students may earn a Spartan Spirit Dress Down Day, which will take place Monday, May 17. Students can give their donation to their homeroom teachers. All participation is completely voluntary. Please join us in celebrating this #GreatDaySJ and make a gift on May 13 at sjcds.net/greatday!

COVID-19 Reminders & Vaccines

Once they have been vaccinated, students, faculty, and staff no longer need to complete the daily Magnus health check. Once your child has been vaccinated, just reach out to School Nurse Michele Adams-Lentz at madamslentz@sjcds.net to have them removed from the Magnus system.

Subscribe to St. Johns' Calendar

It's been a tough year to stay on top of what's going on, with events and dates changing so frequently due to COVID-19. Simplify your life by subscribing to the School's calendars on your phone. Then you'll have everything you need all in one place, and it'll automatically update for you if there are any changes. To subscribe, just visit sjcds.net/calendar and select the gray RSS button above the monthly view. Then, for each calendar you want, just hover over the green iCal button to select the format you need and install. It's that easy! Not sure which one to pick? We recommend the "Master" calendar, to stay on top of everything that's happening.

This Month in Character Foundations

This month, Spartans of all ages are learning about and putting into action commitment, which is defined as making a plan and putting it into practice. You can learn more about commitment and get resources to support the lessons at home at sjcds.net/news
