Campus Update for Tuesday, May 25

Campus Update for Tuesday, May 25

Good afternoon! Here are this week's news and announcements from St. Johns Country Day School:

Senior DC Trip

After a COVID-19 related delay, the Class of 2021 finally left Sunday for their trip to Washington, DC. After arrival, they headed to a Nationals baseball game, and other highlights include a trip to Capitol Hill, visiting the White House, historic Mount Vernon, dinner in Georgetown, and a night time tour of the monuments. Have a great time, Seniors!

Congratulations, Baseball!

Congratulations to Spartan Baseball, which finished out its season as Regional Champions and State Runners-Up in the FHSAA 2A finals. The team finished its season 24-7, the highest win total in program history, and with the first regional championship and first state title game appearance in school history. Outstanding work, coaches and team! We are so proud of you.

Report Card Schedule

The end of the year is nearly upon us—just a few makeup exams and other details to take care of this week—and with that comes second semester report cards. Report cards for all divisions will be available in My School App this Friday, May 28. To view your student's report card, log in to the parent portal in My School App and then, at the top-left, select your student. Under Performance, select "Report Cards."

Driver's Ed Coming This Summer

Coming this summer, St. Johns will offer driver's education for all students interested in getting their permit, or who already hold a permit and want behind-the-wheel instruction. Students can choose the permit course, which begins Monday, June 7, and is available both in-person and in a virtual format and/or the behind-the-wheel course. Both permit courses include the mandatory Florida Drug and Alcohol Course (TLSAE) and the Florida permit test for your license.

The behind-the-wheel course includes 16 hour of classroom instruction, 6 hours of private, behind-the-wheel driving Instruction, and an hour of live test practice for driver's license behind-the-wheel test. At the completion of the course, each student will receive a Driver's Education Completion Certificate. Some insurance companies offer insurance discounts for driving education; parents should consult with their individual insurance companies to learn about discounts that may apply to them. Choose one, the other, or both courses to maximize your driving qualifications! Space is limited, so visit sjcds.net/summer today to register.

Subscribe to St. Johns' Calendar

It's been a tough year to stay on top of what's going on, with events and dates changing so frequently due to COVID-19. Simplify your life by subscribing to the School's calendars on your phone. Then you'll have everything you need all in one place, and it'll automatically update for you if there are any changes. To subscribe, just visit sjcds.net/calendar and select the gray RSS button above the monthly view. Then, for each calendar you want, just hover over the green iCal button to select the format you need and install. It's that easy! Not sure which one to pick? We recommend the "Master" calendar, to stay on top of everything that's happening.

This Month in Character Foundations

This month, Spartans of all ages have been learning about and putting into action commitment, which is defined as making a plan and putting it into practice. You can learn more about commitment and get resources to support the lessons at home at sjcds.net/news
