Spartan Cross Country Bale-n-Trail

Spartan Cross Country Bale-n-Trail

On Saturday, Spartan Cross Country participated in the Bale-n-Trail Original. While the team was at Bartram Trail High School, minds turned to the families that lost loved ones during the 9/11 terrorist attacks twenty years ago. Each runner's bib had the name of a person who died in the attacks and St. Johns teams represented them in glorious fashion.

The Junior Varsity girls battled hard in their race which was run last in the hot humid morning. Our first girl to cross the line was newcomer Addison Frisbee '24 with a personal record (PR) followed in by FinleyCate Davis '27.

The Varsity girls race was muddy and tough but our girls took to the course with ferocity. Our first girl across the line was Rebecca Stratton '25 followed by newcomers Essie Melicharek '27 and her sister Hanna Melicharek '26, Evelyn Hanson '22 (Season Best Time) and Sarah Robinson '24 rounded out our top five. The girls finished 13th out of 19 schools.

The Varsity boys race started off with the entire field going the wrong way which made the race a little longer. Our team was not phased by this and we had some impressive performances. First across the line was Matthew Stratton '22 (2nd overall) followed by Graham Myers '25 (New PR), Richard Nichols '24, Aiden Hererra '22 (Season Best) and Jacob Holyer '23 (Season Best) rounding out our top 5. The Varsity boys finished 10th out of 20 teams.

The Boys JV race was full of excitement as well and it saw Wyatt Hollingsworth '26 (Season Best) cross the line first for our JV boys followed closely by Taylor Thigpen '24 (PR), Arlo Kistner '27, and Finn Kent '27, who were all just seconds apart. Rounding out the our top 5 was Westin Cowherd '25.

Congratulations to all the runners on a job well done. Spartan Cross Country's next meet is at Middleburg for the Bronco Classic.
