The course at Embry Riddle has earned a reputation as one of the most challenging cross country courses in Florida, but on Saturday, September 25, the Varsity Girls crushed this course with some impressive times. Three girls finished in the top 25 and received shirts. First to the line was Rebecca Stratton '25 (10th place overall) followed closely by Essie Melicharek '27 (with a new personal record and 14th place overall), Evelyn Hanson '22 (season best time and 22nd place overall), Sarah Robinson (season best time) and rounding out our top five was Ayla Frisbee '27. The girls went on to finish 5th overall and 1st for small schools. At Monday morning's announcements, the girls team presented their trophy to Mrs. Baker and the School.
The Varsity boys also ran some impressive times on this tough course. Two runners finished in the top 25 and received shirts. The boys finished 7th overall and were 2nd for small schools. Crossing the line first for our boys was Matthew Stratton '22 (1st overall with a time of 16:07) followed next by Graham Myers (2nd overall), Walker Cowherd '22, Adan Hererra '22 and rounding out our top 5 was Wyatt Hollingsworth '26.
The JV girls race had one lone runner in FinleyCate Davis '27 and she finished with an impressive kick at the end of this difficult course and ran to a new personal record (PR).
By the time the JV boys took the line, the weather was starting to heat up, and so did our boys. First to the line for our JV boys was Arlo Kistner '27 (new PR) followed by Finn Kent '27, Sergio Lopez-Diaz '26 (new PR), at right, Junior Javier Coll-Roman, and, rounding out the top 5 for St. Johns was Reyden Rivera '26. Drake Dubois '26 also had a new personal record.
Amazing work, Spartans!
