Happy New Year, and welcome back! We hope you and yours had a fabulous Winter Break and that everyone is geared up for 2022. Here are this week's news and announcements from St. Johns Country Day School:

Winterim

After a brief weather-related delay, the seniors leave tomorrow for Washington, DC, where they'll be checking out our government in action on the annual Senior Trip. The rest of the Upper School grades are participating in Winterim:

Report Cards

Report cards for all students will be available for viewing in My School App this Friday, January 7, 2022. Lower School parents, teachers will be reaching out to you soon to schedule a conference time for the January 18 Conference Day.


Spring Musical Auditions

This went out before Winter Break, but just a reminder that St Johns' Performing Arts Department will soon be auditioning for the Spring Musical—Rogers and Hammerstein's Cinderella. Auditions will take place Monday and Tuesday, January 10 & 11 and are open to students in Grades 6-12. 
Students will be asked to sing a song from any musical of their choice and will also read from the script. Scripts will be available ahead of time for those who are interested in auditioning. Rehearsals will take place during H periods as well as occasionally after school, and the performances will be April 8 and 9, 2022. Interested students may audition during the school day or after school on January 10 or 11. Please email Mr. Riker for a time slot or for more information.


Sparty On Stage! 

Sign up today for Sparty On Stage!, an after school theater program for students in Grades 3+ where they'll foster acting and improv skills. Every Sparty will learn basic performance and presentation skills hone their theater, public speaking, and creativity skills. Sparty On Stage! will take place right here at St. Johns, every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. starting February 8, 2022 through March 3, 2022. Classes will be in the Performing Arts Center (PAC). No need to be a St. Johns student to attend, so bring a friend and let's have some fun! Register today, and plan to wear clothes and shoes appropriate to play and run around in. 


Character Foundations: Self-Control

This month in Character Foundations, students in all divisions will be learning about and putting into practice self-control, which is defined as choosing to do what you should even when you don't want to. Learn more about self-control and how you can help support St. Johns' lessons at home at sjcds.net/news
