Campus Update for Tuesday, September 27, 2022

Good afternoon! Here are this week's news and announcements from St. Johns Country Day School:

Weather Updates

All families should be receiving Mrs. Baker's weather-related updates under separate cover. Please see those daily updates for more information, and refer to communications from coaches or activity sponsors for any practice or event cancellations. Stay safe, Spartans!

Coffee Talk Tomorrow!

The St. Johns Parent Association (SJPA) invites you to get involved with the School! Learn more in the My School App Parent Association (SJPA) group or click here to fill out the Volunteer Form. We also hope you will join us tomorrow from 8:15 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. in the Pace Lecture Hall for a Coffee Talk with Head of Upper School Jackie Lentini
and Upper School Dean Mike Hilliard, to hear from both of them and ask any questions that may be on your mind. If you can't make it in person, join us virtually by typing sjcds.net/sjpa into your web browser or go to meet.google.com and enter the code "vbs-iuce-sed." We look forward to seeing you!

College Counseling Financial Aid Night

The College Counseling Office will host a College Financial Aid Night next Wednesday, September 28, at 6:00 p.m. in the Pace Lecture Hall (PLH). Open to all Middle and Upper School families, guest speaker Will Hunter of UNF will cover all aspects of financial aid including Bright Futures, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), scholarships, merit aid, need-based aid, and more. This session will be beneficial for any families who are thinking ahead to the college selection (and finance!) process. We look forward to seeing you there!

College Visits

Each year, scores of colleges and universities from across the country and around the world send representatives to meet with St. Johns students. These visits give our students opportunities to learn about different schools, ask questions, and connect with, often, the very same admissions representatives who will later evaluate their applications. Upper School students, seize this opportunities to learn more and make your mark! The schedule for the coming week follows; register is SCOIR for visits with schools you're interested in. Please note, the schedule changes frequently, so keep an eye on SCOIR for last minute adjustments or additions.

Photo Retake Day

Fall Portrait Retake Day is coming soon! If you would like a retake of your Pre-K3 through Grade 11 student's fall portrait (whether you purchased a package or not), fall portrait retake day will be on Thursday, October 6. If your child is in Lower or Middle School, please be sure to let his or her homeroom teacher know that you want a retake portrait, so that they can accompany or send your student to the PAC Lobby for the retake. If Upper School students would like a retake portrait, they are encouraged to go to the PAC Lobby during a study hall, break, or lunch.

If you purchased a portrait package, please send it with your student for return to the photographer on retake day. It is important that all returns are made on retake day. Portrait packages should arrive soon, either to your home, if you ordered online, or to the school to be sent home with your student, if you turned in the paper order form on portrait day.

Any new orders should be placed through Leonard's online system. Simply go to Leonards.com, create an account, search for St. Johns Country Day School, and place your order. The Student ID field can be left blank. If you need assistance with the ordering process, Leonard's Customer Service number is (904) 209-3300. If you have any questions, please reach out to Yearbook Sponsors Kristin Jackson or Hope Dorman. Thank you!

Conference Days October 24 & 25

Conference Days are coming up on Monday, October 24 for Middle and Upper School and Tuesday, October 25 for Lower School, both days from 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Parents are invited to attend either virtually or in person. Lower School parents, these will be Student-Led Conferences. You should have received a scheduling email from your child's teacher before Spring Break. Middle and Upper School parents, please click here to schedule your appointment(s), and just make a note on the form if you prefer to attend virtually. Teachers will then send you a meeting link for the conference time. We look forward to seeing you then!
