Taliah Scott '23 holds the Miss Basketball trophy

On Wednesday, April 12, St. Johns Country Day School was honored to host a media ceremony at which Senior Taliah Scott was named 2023 Florida Dairy Farmers Miss Basketball. The award is voted on by a statewide panel of high school coaches and media representatives, and Taliah was announced the winner while she was in Houston playing in the McDonald's All American Games.

Media from across Jacksonville came to the event to photograph and interview Taliah, Girls Varsity Basketball Coach Yolanda Bronston, and Taliah's family. 

The Senior guard, who has signed to play college basketball at the University of Arkansas, averaged 36.2 points, 9.2 rebounds, 4.7 assists, and 2.9 steals per game. 

The Florida Dairy Farmers High School Sports Awards are the longest-running program recognizing excellence in high school athletics. The program recognizes all 30 FHSAA-sanctioned and recognized sports, has honored more than 5,000 of the state’s top student-athletes and coaches. Past winners have gone on to star at the collegiate and professional levels, and some have even represented their country in the Olympic Games.
