Campus Update for Tuesday, February 13

Campus Update for Tuesday, February 13

Good afternoon! Just a reminder that re-enrollment is underway. Information for your students has been emailed to you. If a move or other plans will take you away from St. Johns next year, please let us know before Wednesday, February 28. Meanwhile, here are this week's news and announcements from St. Johns Country Day School:

Grade 4 Visits State Capitol

As an extension to their Florida history curriculum, last week Grade 4 took a field trip to Tallahassee to tour the Mission San Luis and the State Capital Building. At the State Capitol, they met with State Representative Sam Garrison and Florida Senator Jennifer Bradley and then went into the Senate Chamber. Students then sat in the Senators' seats and placed a vote for "yay" or "nay" for no homework. Then they visited the Gallery overlooking the House of Representatives, while they were in session and were asked to stand and be recognized.

Stratton in Clay Electric Competition

Congratulations to Becca Stratton '25, who last month qualified as St. Johns' delegate to the Clay Electric Youth Tour to Washington Speech Competition! Becca qualified for a three-day, expenses-paid trip to Tallahassee, which took place last week. While there, the students observed the state legislature in session, learned about our State's Supreme Court, and competed to earn one of the four spots to Washington, D.C. Way to go, Becca!

Prep Schools College Fair Next Week

The Jacksonville Preparatory Schools College Fair is coming Thursday, February 22, 2024 to the University of North Florida University Center (12000 Alumni Drive, Jacksonville, Florida 32224).

  • The Fair is free and open to all St. Johns students, and we highly recommend it to our current sophomores and juniors.
  • Students planning to attend the college fair should register here. Once registered, you will receive a bar code, which will be used for your correspondence with attending college representatives. (They'll resend it to you two hours before the Fair starts.)
  • Remember to register using the email address where your student wishes to receive correspondence from college representatives.
  • More than 70 colleges and universities from across the U.S. are currently registered to attend, with more coming.

Don't miss this exciting and very useful event!
