CELEBRATIONS
Congratulations, Miss St. Johns 2024!
St. Johns Interact Club hosted the Miss St. Johns competition over the weekend and raised over $2300 for Rise Against Hunger! It was a great show and lots of fun with Junior Angelica Yepez coming out on top as Miss St. Johns 2024! The second place winner was Gigi Sessions '24 and Ashantii Williams '26, Autumn Henry '25, and Cordelia Painter '24 rounded out the top five.

Hearty thanks to contest chairs Jane Garrison '25 and Addison Wagstaff '26 and to emcees Richard Nichols '24 and Calli Berrang '26.
"I am very proud of all of the contestants," said Interact Club sponsor Heather Velasco. "They worked hard to put on a great show. The proceeds from this event give us about half of the $5,000 we need to host a meal packaging event on campus for Rise Against Hunger. Interact Club's goal is to raise the rest of the money and host the event next spring. This will be the 5th meal packaging event for this organization that Interact Club has sponsored on campus."
Rivera Top 5 in Clay Spelling Bee
Hearty congratulations to Max Rivera '29 on making the Final Five in last week's Clay County Spelling Bee! After winning the St. Johns Bee last month, Max proceeded to to the Clay County District Spelling Bee, which took place Thursday night at Lake Asbury Junior High School. Congratulations, Max! Middle School Science Olympiad
On Saturday, seven St. Johns students competed against 14 other teams in the Regional Science Olympiad at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. These included: Sophia McClellan '28, Maddy Dugre '28, Celine Torkzad '27, Izzy Dugre '28, Vedant Mathur '28, Max Rivera '29, and Torin Cooper '29. Hearty congratulations to the whole team on a great day, and to the following, who came away with four Bronze Medals:
- Fossils - Max Rivera '29 and Torin Cooper '29
- Write It Do It - Izzy Dugre '28 and Vedant Mathur '28
- Anatomy & Physiology - Celine Torkzad '27

Wrestlers Headed to State
Congratulations to Colt Hill '29 on an on an outstanding showing last weekend at the FHSAA Wrestling Regionals! Colt placed 3rd and now heads to the FHSAA State Championships this coming weekend in Kissimmee! Also joining Colt is homeschooled wrestler Kevin McLean. Congratulations boys!

Scholastic Awards & Gallery Show
Congratulations to the 41 St. Johns students who were recognized in the 2024 Scholastic Art Awards! On Thursday, February 22, St. Johns was thrilled to recognize these students at flag raising and then to host a Gallery Opening showcasing their work! Spartan Athlete of the Week
Congratulations to last week’s Nichols & Pina Spartan Athlete of the Week, Spartan Baseball's Seth Alford '24! Seth had an outstanding opening night last week, hitting a two run home run in the first inning and then coming in to pitch in the 7th, striking out all three hitters to send the Spartans to extras vs. Buchholz. The Spartans went on to win 4-2 in extra innings. Congratulations Seth!

Grandparents Day Reminders
We look forward to seeing Lower School grandparents and grand friends on Grandparents Day next Friday, March 8!
