Campus Update for Tuesday, September 3

Good afternoon! Here are this week's news and announcements from St. Johns Country Day School:

Clark Earns Scholastic Silver Medal

Congratulations to Sophomore Dominique Clark, who has earned a National Silver Medal in the 2024 Scholastic Art Awards competition. Her self-portrait won a Regional Gold Key and went on to be judged at the national level. You can read more about it right hereCongratulations, Dominique!

Senior Mountain Trip

They missed it in Grade 8 due to COVID-19, but they're making up for it now! The seniors left early yesterday morning for Senior Mountain Trip where they're hiking, playing icebreakers, and just generally having a good time with paintball, horseback riding, and so much more. Have fun, Seniors! We miss you already!

Middle School Parent Coffee Tomorrow!

Middle School parents, join us tomorrow morning, Wednesday, September 4, for a Parent Coffee at 8:30 a.m. in the Pace Lecture Hall. We'll be talking about the challenges of social media, how parents can stay educated on the issues, and what to do about them.  We hope to see you there!

Spirit Dress Day Friday

Just a reminder that our "First Friday" of the month Spirit Dress Day is coming up this Friday, September 6. Stop by St. Johns' on-campus Spirit Store for all your spirit gear! The Spirit Store is open every school day from 7:45 a.m.-3:45 p.m.

Athlete of the Week Kate Staten '29

Congratulations to this week's Nichols & Pina St. Johns Athlete of the Week, Kate Staten '29 of Spartan Cross Country! In Friday's Cecil Field Summer Classic, Kate led the Spartans with a 5th place individual finish and the team followed suit with a 5th place team finish out of 35 teams! Way to go, Kate!

Varsity Cheerleading

Upper School students who have not already registered their interest in Cheerleading this year, please reach out to Ms. O'Toole in L15, or email her at motoole@sjcds.net no later than Friday, September 6.

Parent Night: Minding Your Mind - Just Talk About It!

Please join us for a parent education night, "Minding Your Mind - Just Talk About It!" Coming next week Wednesday, September 11, at 6:30 p.m. in the Pace Lecture Hall, Just Talk About It will discuss the signs and symptoms of the mental health issues most prevalent in adolescents through young adulthood. Featuring both clinician and young adult speakers, the discussion will help parents tell warning signs from typical teenage behavior. Please join us!

College Representative Visits

It's about that time again, when representatives from colleges and universities from across the country (and around the globe!) come to St. Johns to tell us about their schools, visit with our students, and get to know St. Johns. Upper School students are welcome at these visits and juniors and seniors are encouraged to attend. Students must be registered to attend, and be sure to keep an eye on SCOIR for the schedules, as they do change frequently. Direct any questions to your college counselor.

Florida Tax Credit Scholarships

Many St. Johns families are saving money on tuition by putting their tax dollars at work. As of 2023, the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship (FTCS) program is available to all resident students who are eligible to enroll in Kindergarten through Grade 12 in a Florida public school. The next enrollment deadline has not yet been determined, however, awarded students are still eligible to receive 100% of their scholarship award for the 2024-25 school year as long as the student is "enrolled" by October 15, 2024. Cut your tuition bill and click here to get started today
