Spartan Harriers Divide and Conquer

Spartan Cross Country runners were between two different meets this weekend and ran very well in both.

The boys varsity team was at the always-challenging Bale-n-Trail meet at Bartram Trail High School. The course was very wet and muddy and our Spartan boys ran exceptionally well against a bunch of larger schools. Our first runner in was Matthew Stratton '22 coming in 5th overall and continuing his streak of top 5 finishes this year. Our next runners were Jake Kailes '21, Adan Herrera '22, James Wilson '21, Cade Zehner '21, and Jacob Holyer '23. Virtually everyone ran faster times than in their previous meet.

Timmy Jackson '24 ran in his first-ever varsity race this weekend at the Pedro Menendez High School Falcon 5k. He finished very well against some tough competition, again in extremely wet and muddy conditions.

Varsity girls also ran in the Falcon 5k and everyone pushed through to put up some impressive times under difficult conditions. Our first Spartan across the line was Rebecca Stratton '25 coming in 10th overall followed closely by Evelyn Hanson '22 and Sarah Robinson '24. Our next runners were Sofia Conde '24 and Sarah Mejias '26, who had a very impressive first cross country race of the season after being sidelined due to an injury.

All of our Middle Schoolers ran in the Middle School race at the Falcon 5k. For many, this was their first race of the season and they demonstrated that all their hard work at practice is paying off. Our first Spartan across the line was Nathan Robinson '27 finishing 3rd overall, followed in by Reyden Rivera '26, Sergio Lopez-Diaz '26, Jack Pearce '26 and Adrian Heinrichs '26.

Hana Hutsell '27 was our only Middle School girl on the course. She ran exceptionally well in her first ever cross country race finishing 4th overall.

Spartan harriers' next meet is the very competitive Katie Caples Invitational, on Saturday, September 26, 2020.
