St. Johns Country Day School offers merit-based scholarships and accepts scholarships through the state of Florida.

Merit Scholarship

Rising Grade 7 or 9

The St. Johns Country Day School Merit Scholarship is a selective, merit-based opportunity designed for students who demonstrate both outstanding academic promise and a desire to make a significant contribution to the life of St. Johns Country Day School. Recent Merit Scholarship recipient graduates have gone on to Duke, University of Florida Honors College, and Vanderbilt, among many others.

To earn a merit scholarship, a student must:

  • be entering Grade 7 or Grade 9.
  • complete the St. Johns admissions process, or be a current St. Johns student re-enrolled no later than February 27.
  • complete and submit the St. Johns Merit Scholarship application, including a hand-written essay, no later than February 27.
  • take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) and earn a combined stanine score of 28 or higher. All ISEE testing must be completed and test scores received prior to the application deadline. Visit iseetest.org to learn more about the ISEE. 
  • maintain a weighted Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher for Grade 7 or Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.6 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher for Grade 9

The Merit Scholarship will cover 50% of tuition as long as the recipient continues to meet the eligibility requirements for the scholarship. This scholarship does not cover any additional required fees or expenses including, but not limited to: application fee, building fees, Tuition Refund Plan (TRP), digital textbook fees, and school uniforms costs.

St. Johns admits qualified applicants without regard to gender, race, color, national or ethnic origin and grants to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students of the school.

Florida School Choice Scholarships

School choice options recently expanded for Florida students with the signing of House Bill 1. Please read on for more information about the relevant programs. St. Johns only accepts the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship and Family Empowerment Scholarship for Educational Options.

These programs:

  • Expand eligibility to all K-12 students, regardless of household income.
  • Convert the scholarships into education savings accounts, or “ESAs” allowing families more flexibility in how they invest in their children’s education.
  • For families who will use the scholarship for full-time private school tuition and fees, parents/guardians must agree to have their Scholarship Funding Organization, or “SFO,” commit scholarship funds on behalf of their students’ tuition before using education savings account (ESA) funds for other approved, authorized uses of program funds. Some other approved uses include uniforms, laptops, books, software and tutoring.

Military Family Scholarships

St. Johns accepts the Folds of Honor scholarship.
